Change your mind, change everything

Updated: Jan 20, 2019

People often ask me what is the most important step in getting healthier. The answer is not what you might expect, because it has nothing to do with nutrition or exercising, at least not the way you think. It has everything to do with intention and it can be done by anyone at any point. It is simple, it is powerful and it will rock your world.

The first step towards healing is changing your mind about what is possible.

Often times we sabotage ourselves by thinking we cannot achieve something, or that achieving it will be too difficult, impossible even. We convince ourselves that there are so many reasons why we cannot get the things we want. We do this over and over until it becomes second nature and we do not even know we are doing it. There is not enough time, we do not have the money, we are too tired, we are too busy, we do not know enough, we are not that talented, we don't have the right connections, someone told us we could not do it, we are just one person and there is only so much we can do. This constant negation of your power and worth is the single, most powerful obstacle you are going to encounter on your way to ANY goal. Like Henry Ford said, whether you think you can, or you think you cannot, you are right.

How do I know this? I know this because I have experienced it first hand. And let me tell you, changing your mind about your limitless potential makes all the difference in wellness, health and any other thing that is important to you. You are NOT just one person, you are everything you need to change your world for the better.

Two years ago after Hurricane Maria ravaged my homeland of Puerto Rico I found myself in a deep state of WTBleep. I felt the pain, desperation and loss for those on the island that were struggling to survive and grieved for those who did not. I could not sleep, I could not be calm, I became absent in my own life and felt powerless and confused. I was all over the place trying to help my family get through this but constantly worrying I was not enough to make a real difference. It was all a hot mess and something had to change. So I decided to change my mind about what I was capable of achieving. After I made that important decision things started to move. Money, resources, allies and opportunities appeared and through action a positive reaction occurred. That first step became an organized relief effort that helped many directly. I am not sharing this to boost my ego. I am sharing this to give you an example of how incredibly capable we are to make change, even change that seems impossible.

So whether it is about becoming a philanthropist or about getting clear skin, the first step is changing your mind about your role in your life. Remember you are not a passive observer, you are the main character in your story, you decide. You can take charge of your health, you just need to truly believe you can. And if you need a little support I am here to help.
